Oklahoma Tax Brackets for 2026
| Rate | Single | Married filing jointly |
|---|---|---|
| 0% | $0 to $3,750 | $0 to $7,500 |
| 2.5% | $3,750 to $4,900 | $7,500 to $9,800 |
| 3.5% | $4,900 to $7,200 | $9,800 to $14,400 |
| 4.5% | Over $7,200 | Over $14,400 |
The joint brackets are exactly twice the single ones. Since the 4.5% band starts at $7,200 of taxable income, nearly every full time wage earner pays 4.5% on the last dollar. Future cuts of a quarter point are possible, but only after the State Board of Equalization certifies enough revenue growth.
Deductions Before Oklahoma Tax
- Standard deduction: $6,350 single, $12,700 married filing jointly. These amounts are fixed in law and not indexed.
- Personal exemption: $1,000 for each person on the return, plus $1,000 per dependent.
Oklahoma does not allow a deduction for federal income tax paid. Together the deduction and exemption shield $7,350 of a single filer's pay, and the 0% band covers the next $3,750.
A dependent child adds another $1,000 exemption, which at the 4.5% rate is worth $45 a year. This calculator does not include dependents, so parents will see slightly less Oklahoma tax on their own returns.
Example: $47,000 in Oklahoma
| Line | Per year | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| Gross pay | $47,000 | $3,916.67 |
| Federal income tax | $3,460 | $288.33 |
| Social Security | $2,914 | $242.83 |
| Medicare | $681.50 | $56.79 |
| Oklahoma income tax | $1,569.50 | $130.79 |
| Net pay | $38,375 | $3,197.92 |
Taxable income is $47,000 − $6,350 − $1,000 = $39,650. The first $3,750 is free, the next $1,150 costs 2.5%, then $2,300 at 3.5% and the remaining $32,450 at 4.5%: $1,569.50 in total. That is 3.3% of the salary.
Oklahoma Net Salary at Several Levels
| Salary | Oklahoma income tax | Net per year | Net per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| $26,000 | $624.50 | $22,396.50 | $1,866.38 |
| $36,000 | $1,074.50 | $30,031.50 | $2,502.63 |
| $47,000 | $1,569.50 | $38,375 | $3,197.92 |
| $62,000 | $2,244.50 | $49,752.50 | $4,146.04 |
| $90,000 | $3,504.50 | $68,640.50 | $5,720.04 |
| $125,000 | $5,079.50 | $91,624 | $7,635.33 |
The state share rises slowly with pay. At $90,000 it reaches $3,504.50, or 3.9% of gross.
Where an Oklahoma Paycheck Goes
Out of each $100 earned on the $47,000 salary, the split looks like this:
| Item | Share of gross | Per $100 earned |
|---|---|---|
| Federal income tax | 7.4% | $7.36 |
| Social Security | 6.2% | $6.20 |
| Medicare | 1.5% | $1.45 |
| Oklahoma income tax | 3.3% | $3.34 |
| Kept as net pay | 81.6% | $81.65 |
Federal tax and FICA take far more than the state. The Oklahoma share is small mainly because the deduction, the exemption and the 0% band together leave the first $11,100 of a single salary untouched.
Oklahoma Joint Return Example
If the $47,000 earner files jointly with a spouse who has no income, the household keeps $40,900.50. The Oklahoma line falls to $1,024: the deduction doubles to $12,700, there are two $1,000 exemptions, and the 0% band widens to $7,500.
Oklahoma Pay per Paycheck
| Schedule | Gross each pay | Net each pay |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly, 52 pays | $903.85 | $737.98 |
| Every two weeks, 26 pays | $1,807.69 | $1,475.96 |
| Twice a month, 24 pays | $1,958.33 | $1,598.96 |
| Monthly, 12 pays | $3,916.67 | $3,197.92 |
Oklahoma employers use the Tax Commission's OW-2 tables, which already build in the standard deduction, and subtract $1,000 a year for each allowance on the OK-W-4. For hourly work the Hourly Paycheck Calculator shows one paycheck at a time.
What Counts as Taxable Pay in Oklahoma
- Taxed: wages, salaries, overtime, bonuses and tips.
- Reduced by: traditional 401(k) contributions, which lower federal and Oklahoma income alike.
- No local income tax: Oklahoma cities fund themselves mainly through sales tax.
- No state disability or paid leave deduction.
Next door, Texas has no income tax at all, while Kansas taxes at 5.20% and 5.58%.
Oklahoma Calculator Limits and Sources
The figures assume one earner, no dependents, the standard deduction and no Oklahoma credits such as the sales tax relief credit or the child tax credit. The Oklahoma result is a yearly liability, which can differ by a few dollars from what payroll withholds.
