Czech Republic 2026 (ČSSZ, Finanční správa): social insurance 7.1% up to 2,350,416 Kč a year, health insurance 4.5%, income tax 15% and 23% above 1,762,812 Kč, less the 30,840 Kč taxpayer credit. Signed tax declaration, no child or student credits, annual figures without monthly rounding.

The gross to net calculator Czech Republic converts hrubá mzda into čistá mzda for an employee in 2026. It deducts social and health insurance, then income tax less the basic taxpayer credit, the way a Czech payroll does after you sign the tax declaration.

The average wage set for 2026 is CZK 48,967 a month. On CZK 49,000 a month, or CZK 588,000 a year, take home pay is CZK 462,432 a year and CZK 38,536 a month.

Three Deductions on a Czech Salary

Since the super gross wage was abolished in 2021, every deduction is a percentage of plain gross pay:

  • Social insurance (sociální pojištění): 7.1%, of which 6.5% is pension and 0.6% sickness insurance.
  • Health insurance (zdravotní pojištění): 4.5%, one third of the 13.5% total; the employer pays the other 9%.
  • Income tax (daň z příjmů): 15%, or 23% on income above the threshold, less the taxpayer credit.

Income Tax at 15% and 23% and the Taxpayer Credit

Tax is 15% on income up to CZK 1,762,812 a year, which is 36 times the 2026 average wage, and 23% above it. Monthly, payroll applies the higher rate to the part of pay above CZK 146,901.

The sleva na poplatníka then cuts the tax bill by CZK 30,840 a year (CZK 2,570 a month). It is a credit, not an allowance, so on a 15% rate it covers the tax on the first CZK 205,600 of yearly pay. At the CZK 22,400 minimum wage the monthly tax is CZK 790.

The ceiling for social insurance is 48 times the average wage, CZK 2,350,416 in 2026. Health insurance has no ceiling, so very high earners keep paying it all year.

Worked Example on 49,000 Kč a Month

  • Social insurance: CZK 588,000 × 7.1% = CZK 41,748
  • Health insurance: CZK 588,000 × 4.5% = CZK 26,460
  • Tax before credit: CZK 588,000 × 15% = CZK 88,200
  • Less sleva na poplatníka CZK 30,840: income tax CZK 57,360
  • Net: CZK 462,432 a year, CZK 38,536 a month

Deductions take 21.4% of gross. Your employer spends about CZK 786,744 a year on this job once its own 24.8% social and 9% health insurance are added.

Prague Salaries and Regional Pay

As a Prague gross to net calculator the tool works without any change: Czech income tax and insurance are national, with no city or regional surcharge. A Prague salary is usually higher, but the same rules apply to it as in Brno, Ostrava or a small town.

What changes the result is your personal situation. Children bring a tax benefit (daňové zvýhodnění), students and people with disabilities have extra credits, and these are claimed in the same declaration.

What Counts as Taxable Pay

  • Taxed and insured: salary, overtime, bonuses, the 13th and 14th month payments, and the private use of a company car.
  • Often exempt within limits: employer contributions to pension savings, meal allowances and some leisure benefits, as set in the Income Tax Act.
  • Not covered here: agreements outside employment (DPP, DPČ), which have their own thresholds.

Monthly Pay and the 13th Month Bonus

Czech payroll calculates every month separately and rounds insurance up to whole crowns. The annual totals here differ from twelve payslips by a few crowns at most. A 13th month bonus is taxed and insured as part of that month's pay; add it to the yearly gross to see the annual effect.

If you do not sign the tax declaration (prohlášení), the employer cannot apply the taxpayer credit each month and you claim it later in your tax return.

Assumptions and Sources for the Czech Republic

  • One employer, signed tax declaration, full year at the same pay.
  • Basic taxpayer credit only, no child tax benefit or other credits.
  • No monthly rounding; the 23% rate applied on the yearly total.
