Greece 2026: new scale 9%, 20%, 26%, 34%, 39% and 44% (lower first bands for workers up to 30), less the €777 wage earner reduction, cut by €20 for each €1,000 above €12,000. e-EFKA 13.37% up to €7,761.94 a month. No dependent children, 14 payments (Christmas, Easter and holiday bonuses), private sector job.

This gross to net calculator Greece works out the καθαρές αποδοχές (net pay) of a private sector employee from the gross salary, after e-EFKA social insurance and income tax. It uses the scale introduced for 2026, which cut the middle rates by two points and added a 39% band.

On €18,000 a year, a worker over 30 with no children keeps €14,279.85. Greek salaries are paid 14 times, counting the Christmas, Easter and holiday bonuses, so each payment is €1,019.99 net.

Net Salary on €18,000: Step by Step

  1. e-EFKA employee share: €18,000 × 13.37% = €2,406.60.
  2. Taxable income: €15,593.40.
  3. Tax on the 2026 scale: €10,000 × 9% + €5,593.40 × 20% = €2,018.68.
  4. Wage earner tax reduction: €777 less €20 for each €1,000 above €12,000 = €705.13.
  5. Income tax due: €1,313.55.

Before 2026 the bands were 9%, 22%, 28%, 36% and 44%. The reform lowered the 20% to 30% range, added a 39% band from €40,000 to €60,000, and gave young workers lower rates on the first €20,000. Families with children get further cuts in the second and third bands, which this calculator does not include.

The Wage Earner Tax Reduction

Salaried workers and pensioners subtract €777 from the tax when they have no dependent children. Above €12,000 of taxable income the reduction falls by €20 for every €1,000, and it is gone at €50,850.

Because of this reduction, a single worker pays no tax on taxable income up to €8,633.33, where the 9% band produces exactly €777. On €30,000 gross the reduction is down to €497.22 and tax is €3,959.92.

EFKA Contributions and the Ceiling

For a standard private sector job (insurance package 101) the employee pays 13.37% of gross pay, covering main pension, health, auxiliary pension and unemployment. The employer pays 21.79% on top.

Contributions stop at a monthly ceiling of €7,761.94 in 2026. With the bonuses capped in proportion, that limits pay subject to contributions to 14 times the ceiling, and the yearly employee share to €14,528.80.

Lower Tax for Workers up to 30

Use the age setting to see the 2026 youth rates. Workers up to 25 pay 0% on the first €20,000 of taxable income; those aged 26 to 30 pay 9% instead of 20% between €10,000 and €20,000.

Why Greece Pays 14 Salaries

Private sector staff receive a Christmas bonus of one month, an Easter bonus of half a month and a holiday allowance of half a month, which adds up to 14 payments a year. A monthly salary of €1,285.71 therefore means €18,000 a year.

When you type a monthly amount, the calculator multiplies it by 14. Overtime, night and Sunday premiums are taxed as salary.

Greece Sources and Limits

  • Private sector employee, insurance package 101, full year with one employer.
  • No dependent children, so the child rates and higher reductions are not applied.
  • Tax worked on the year; monthly withholding spreads the same total over the payments.
